You know, I don’t know when I started collecting phrases to survive, but I’ve been doing it for a long time. They go in my journal, on post-its, anytime I have thought or realization that hits hard, I keep it.
Affirmations have gotten me through more of midlife than I ever expected to live through.
And no, I’m not all sunshine and rainbows and “the universe.” I’m more of clouds don’t bug me and rainbows follow storms, ya know. Also? Being good without god is a complete sentence.
So, yesterday I fell down. I fell walking to a friend’s house for lunch. I tripped over my pant hem and went face first into the side walk. You know, when you’ve had a tough week, falling down can feel more than accidental. But … like I said…
Yesterday I fell – and gravity acted on both my body and my mind.
But today, with the help of some of my mantras, both my body and my mind got back up.
And it made me think that maybe the words I’ve used to keep myself going could help someone else, too. So I made something – actually, I made two things:
🖤 Volume One: The Leaving Season
For exits, endings, and walking away.
🖤 Volume Two: Midlife Moves
For re-entry, repair, and showing up different.
They’re printable quote cards — digital downloads — made for women rebuilding after the kind of life disruption that doesn’t get cute hashtags.
No “fix-it energy”, just truth. They’re in my Ko-fi shop now. And I’m going to make more. And yes, they’re going on this blog. And I’ll do a Spanish version too — because healing deserves to be multilingual.
